Interview with Donald E. Smith, undertaken by Philip Page in Don Smith's office and in the gardens at Dumbarton Oaks on several days in July, August, and September, 1992. At Dumbarton Oaks, both Don Smith and Philip Page were Superintendents of Gardens and Grounds. Don Smith was Assistant Superintendent (1952–1974) and Superintendent (1974–1992) of Gardens and Grounds. Philip Page was Superintendent of Gardens and Grounds (1992–1996). Don Smith died in 2012.
