Oral History Interview with Margaret Dawson, undertaken by Jeanne-Nicole Saint-Laurent at the Dumbarton Oaks Guest House (Fellows Building) on July 22, 2009. Margaret Dawson helped to organize and catalogue Mildred Bliss’s correspondence and holographic documents and manuscripts in the summer of 1956.

Oral History Interview with Inge Gaberman, undertaken by Anna Bonnell-Freiden and Clem Wood at the Dumbarton Oaks Guest House (Fellows Building) on August 26, 2008. Inge Gaberman was a docent at Dumbarton Oaks from the inception of the program in 1982 until 2000. She also volunteered in the Byzantine Fieldwork and Photograph Archives (1988–2000).

Michael Steen

“Dumbarton Oaks: That House that Mike Built.” This is a transcription of the audio portion of a video produced by Michael Steen for Jacobs Facilities, Inc. on August 29, 2007. Mike Steen was then Project Manager of the Dumbarton Oaks Capital Construction and Renewal Program on contract from Jacobs. The project included the renovation and restoration of the Refectory, the Greenhouses, the Operations Building (also known as the Gardener’s Cottage), the Main House, and the Guest House (then known as the Fellows Building) and the new construction of the Library and the Gardeners’ Court. Mike was Director of Facilities at Dumbarton Oaks (2008–2013). The video also includes sections narrated by Page Nelson on office relocations and John Howell on the data center in the Operations Building.

Oral History Interview with Irène J. Underwood (1913–2011), undertaken by Anna Bonnell-Freidin and Clem Wood, with Joe Mills as audio technician, on July 23, 2008, in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Mrs. Underwood was married to Paul Atkins Underwood (1902–1968). At Dumbarton Oaks, Paul Underwood was a Junior Fellow in Byzantine Studies (1943–1946), a resident Assistant Professor of Byzantine Art and Archaeology (1946–1951), Associate Professor of Byzantine Art and Archaeology (1951–1960), and Professor of Byzantine Art and Archaeology (1960–1968). Paul Underwood was the Field Director of the Byzantine Institute (1951–1961). Mrs. Underwood died in 2011.
