Position Title: Database Developer

Supervisor: Information Technology Director

Department: Information Technology

Grade: 56, exempt

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Summary

The Database/ Developer collaborates with the web team, staff, and scholars to improve existing technical infrastructure through database and web application development and maintenance. Maintain database applications and data to support ongoing business activities and new initiatives.  Act as a liaison between the technical and business units in order to provide technical solution to meet user database needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and manage administration process; workflows, validation rules, approval process, assignment rules and list generation
  • Develop reports, dashboards, work-flows and process to continuously monitor data quality and integrity
  • Configure, optimize, convert, and/or support existing databases
  • Assist in application customization via custom objects, workflows, visual flows, page layouts and custom fields. Interface with end users to understand administrative needs and resolve support issues.
  • Coordinate requirement analysis, design, implementation, testing and deployment for in-house projects as well as those outsourced to a consulting partner.
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand their database needs
  • Architect, design, and implement repeatable and scalable solutions to fulfill business needs
  • Implement integrations between business systems and other applications
  • Manage change control for Salesforce, CMMS, Event Manager, and other department departments for both new functionality requests and environment management.
  • Analyze and define the importing and exporting of data to and from disparate systems troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, resolve bugs and errors, and implement optimal solutions to resolve issues at the source.
  • Own system documentation for database applications, its integrations, and ongoing enhancements / updates
  • Ensure functional and stable APIs
  • Monitoring performance and managing parameters to ensure fast query responses to front-end users.
  • Create and help maintain the Plone Login Directory for staff, fellows, and interns. Maintain Groups/Permissions for different sections of the site for all the website users.
  • Provide troubleshooting and support to website users and advance and maintain the ticketing/issues software.
  • Follow standard Software Development Life Cycle for in-house database development.
  • Explore, customize, and test new software and technology

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field
  • Minimum work experience 3 years of software development
  • Proficient with Apex, VisualForce, Native, MySQL and JavaScript

Additional Qualifications

  • Preferred Salesforce developer certification
  • Knowledge of the standard capabilities of SFDC and have successfully expanded on those capabilities through the use of custom code (Apex, s-controls) and/or integration with external systems
  • Previous re-engineering experience updating an existing CRM  configuration to provide solutions for reporting, workflows and enhanced functions
  • Computer literate and proficient in standard office applications Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong problem solving skills, data and software applications
  • Experience developing customer-facing user interfaces
  • Detail oriented and self-starter with strong written and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
