Christopher SchroederDumbarton Oaks is thrilled to welcome Christopher M. Schroeder in the Humanities Talk Series. The series is presented in tandem with the Humanities Fellowships, a program in its second year designed to bridge the gap between college and career for Harvard graduates interested in the humanities. The guest speakers will discuss the practical aspects of how they built their professional lives, while also reflecting on the deep conceptual and philosophical wellsprings of why they do what they do. This year’s five distinguished speakers come from a wide range of careers that use humanistic skills, including publications, journalism, and archives.

Christopher M. Schroeder is an entrepreneur, adviser, and investor in interactive technologies and social communications. Named one of LinkedIn’s first 50 Influencers, he has written and lectured extensively on startups and innovation as well as on emerging growth markets and the Middle East. Schroeder was the CEO and Publisher of Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive and cofounder of the startup and he continues to invest in disruptive enterprises. He also serves on the boards of the American University of Cairo School of Business, the American University School of International Service, the American University of Beirut, the German Marshall Fund, and the American Council on Germany, among other organizations. Schroeder graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Business School and is the author of the recent best seller Startup Rising: The Entrepreneurial Revolution Remaking the Middle East.
