Description

List of roses to order from Joseph Breck & Sons and Bobbink & Atkins for Dumbarton Oaks for early March delivery, 1947. The order includes 30 Betty Uprichard, 4 Kaiserin Auguste Viktoria, 18 Douglas MacArthur, and 12 Killarney White roses.

Handwritten note in black ink: "Sunday, 2-1-47, I couldn't reach you by phone. Could you order these? Thanks! [illegible signature]. Uncertain sender. Probably sent by Robert Patterson with note to Beatrix Farrand. Handwriting is similar to a handwritten letter by Robert Patterson to Mildred Bliss, F13:RP 19xx.01.10. Beatrix Farrand ordered these bulbs 5 days after this dated handwritten note, C10:BF 1947.02.06 and C10:BF 1947.02.06B

Uncertain who created typewritten list -- possibly Robert Patterson who created list after attempting to contact Beatrix Farrand by phone, or Beatrix Farrand who sent the list to Robert Patterson for approval after which he tried to contact her by phone.

Typewritten correspondence undated, probably created in 1947 based on notation of dated handwritten note.
