Description

Beatrix Farrand designed the west wall and fountain.

The west end of the Swimming Pool and surrounding garden areas as they appeared after the completion of the North Vista walls in 1944 and before the Cedar of Lebanon was replaced in 1959.

Photograph undated, probably taken 1944-1959 based on existence of walls and Cedar of Lebanon in background.

Two copies of photograph in collection.

Copy 1, verso: typewritten label: Swimming Pool, West end w/ weeping cherries. Also handwritten: Dumbarton Oaks.

Copy 1, attachment: handwritten: A wall fountain in the shade of weeping cherries on the Swimming Pool Terrace.
