South Gallery

Continued working in the South Gallery, on the toning down of the white plaster conservations. Filming of the Deisis was also taken, and on the Zoe Panel.

These films were of colour, and we have now completed a 100 foot length of film.

Apse Scaffold

Work was continued on the apse scaffold, with the cleaning of gold ground, and of copper cramping. Copper cramps were also made during the morning.

M. Kluge continuing work on the tracing of "John" Panel.

Following the 1949 fieldwork season, there is no evidence of any additional filming undertaken by the Byzantine Institute at either site. Thomas Whittemore died the following year.
