The Margaret Alexander Collection also contains many other interesting documents.  Some of these documents relate to the CMT, while others originate from Alexander’s time as a Junior Fellow at Dumbarton Oaks, dissertation, and personal life.  A small selection of these are highlighted here.

RECEIPTS FOR CAR REPAIRS, March 21, 1978

The CMT team drove a Peugeot 404, and they paid 115 Tunisian dinars (TND) to have it repaired in 1978.

DRAFT LIST OF MONUMENTS IN TUNISIA BY WILHELM KOEHLER AND MARGARET AMES, May 5, 1943

During her time as a Dumbarton Oaks Junior Fellow, Alexander (née Ames) was assigned to create a list of monuments and sites in Tunisia that needed protection during WWII as part of the American Defense, Harvard Group project. This list represents Alexander’s early interest in Tunisia.

NOTE CARDS OF ALEXANDER'S DISSERTATION RESEARCH, c. 1940s-1950s

Part of the Margaret Alexander Collection also contains Alexander's research notes related to her dissertation.  Research notes describe early Christian mosaics in North Africa, with details about each mosaic, including its location, state of preservation, date, and epitaph.

POSTCARD FROM MARGARET ALEXANDER TO ROBERT ALEXANDER, July 5, 1987

The collection contains a large number of postcards.  While many are blank and never mailed, others were sent to Alexander by colleagues, current and former students, and friends.  This one was sent by Margaret Alexander to her husband, Robert Alexander, on the occasion of their wedding anniversary.
