Contents

The document is photographed from back to front (following the foliation).

Document 4-107:1-6:11v and 1-4v: inc. (dated to 1793). The document is signed by monks in both Greek and Arabic. Dorotheos was archbishop of Sinai from 1794-1797.

Document 4-108: more Sinai documents dated to 1885 (written in a breathtakingly beautiful hand).

Document 4-109:1-8: correspondence between the monastery and Georg Gondos (who signs his letters as the commander of the Turkish army in the Sinai peninsula) written in French and Greek dated to 1915.  Gondos’ French letters are translated into Greek. The letters from the monastery written to Gondos appears first in Greek (with several corrections and emendations) and then translated into French (apparently) by a non-native speaker again with many corrections and annotations, some in Greek. Also included is a ‘kataloge de vivres’ detailing foodstuffs and supplies the monastery uses such as coffee, wheat flour and pulses.

Document 4-110.7: single-page document.
