Scattered Evidence: Excavations in Antioch-On-The-Orontes
Excavations during the 1930s brought to light the ancient city of Antioch (modern Antakya, Turkey). As a sponsor of the Princeton-led fieldwork, Dumbarton Oaks received a share of the excavated finds which are brought together for the first time, augmented by loans from the Harvard Art Museum and the Baltimore Museum of Art.
April 7, 2010 through October 10, 2010
Our redesigned permanent exhibits feature the two specialized collections of Byzantine and Pre-Columbian art besides European masterpieces on view in the historic Music Room.
Mildred and Robert Woods Bliss initiated these collections in the first half of the twentieth century and provided the vision for future acquisitions after giving Dumbarton Oaks to Harvard University.
Admission to the Museum is free. Please see Visitor Information for further details.
For groups of at least 10 you may wish to book a docent guided tour which will provide an in-depth experience and lead you through the museum and gardens in the morning (non-public) hours.
