Central Andean Art
In Gallery VII, cultures from the central Andes are on display. Cupisnique carved stone vessels, Chavín goldwork, Nazca ceramics, and a Wari mosaic mirror reflect an Andean predilection for representing hybrid supernatural creatures. Paracas, Wari, and Chancay pieces show an interest in the human figure. Objects currently on display in Gallery VII are part of Dumbarton Oaks' permanent collection.
