Northern Andean Art

The northern Andes' long tradition of metalworking is evident in Gallery VI.

The northern Andes' long tradition of metalworking is evident in Gallery VI, which features gold vessels from the Lambayeque culture and gold and silver pieces from the later Chimú culture. Art from the earlier Moche culture includes modeled and painted ceramics, as well as metal and stone pieces representing prisoners and warfare. Objects currently on display in Gallery VI are part of Dumbarton Oaks' permanent collection.
