The proceedings of a Conference on the Olmec held at Dumbarton Oaks on October 28th and 29th, 1967�the first on the Olmec since the Mesa Redonda in Tuxtla Guti�rrez in 1942. These sessions came at a time when there was a good deal of fresh material from recent excavations, both in the Olmec "heartland" and in sites in other areas where there is evidence of Olmec influence.
