Fellowships and Project Grants Bibliography

In 2011, the Garden and Landscape Studies program at Dumbarton Oaks conducted a survey of its former fellows and grant recipients. The aim of this initiative was to evaluate the impact of this program on their careers and academic development in order to assess its broader role in shaping the field of garden and landscape studies over the first forty years of this program’s history. We received seventy-one responses from scholars working in different disciplines, including art and architectural history, landscape architecture, geography, anthropology, languages, environmental studies, and classics. The principal outcome of this survey is an extensive list of scholarly publications, which were produced or substantially advanced during the fellowship period, inspired by the time spent at Dumbarton Oaks, or supported by Dumbarton Oaks project grants. The first preliminary version of this bibliography, which will be regularly updated, is available here.
