Garden and Landscape Studies
The program in Garden and Landscape Studies was established in 1969 to support the study of gardens and the history of landscape architecture around the world from ancient times to the present. The program has recently started a collection of contemporary landscape design documents, and a series of occasional installations by contemporary sculptors and designers. The program has hosted a continuous series of residential fellows and academic events such as public lectures and symposia. An active publications program sponsors symposium proceedings in the history of landscape architecture, studies in contemporary landscape design, and occasional monographs. Staff and fellows have access to a research library.
