Royall Tyler to Mildred Barnes Bliss, October 12, 1916

Château de Genay

Par Semur-en-Auxois

Côte d’Or

12 Oct. ‘16Thursday.

Elisina tells me you will be able to come on Monday, dear Mildred. On this "six days' holiday," see letters of October 22, 1916, and October 23, 1916. Try to start in the morning in time to get to Sens—a run of a little over 100 kilometres, in time to lunch there, Hotel de l’Ecu or Hotel de Paris. By that time you will be about half way.

You can continue on the main road to Dijon for another 100 kilometres or so, as far as a village called St. Remy, where, after crossing the canal and river by the main road, you turn out of it to the right, taking the road that leads to Semur, via Quincerot and Senailly. Genay lies just off this road to the right, about 2 kilometres after passing Viserny. Unless there is a bad earthquake I shall be walking on it Monday afternoon.

At whatever time you come, dear Mildred, you shall be received with wide open arms. Elisina sends you all her love, and William does too, and I as well—and the same to Robert.

Always your sincerely

Royall Tyler
