Royall Tyler to Mildred Barnes Bliss, June 21, 1916

21, Quai de Bourbon

Paris. IV.

21 June ‘16Wednesday.

Dear Mildred.

Gerard said in one of his last letters that he was going to send you his photograph, and it occurs to Elisina that if he has done so you might perhaps be writing in reply.Mildred did reply, and Royall conveyed Gerard's thanks in his letter of July 28, 1916. Now, Gerard goes home for long leave (not very long as it only lasts 3 days) on Saturday next, and if your letter arrived Saturday evening it might be sent on, and perhaps fall into the wrong hands. So would you hold it back until Sunday or Monday?

This must sound an extraordinary rigmarole if you haven’t had any photograph; but one doesn’t like to take any chances where precious things are at stake. Bless you.

Yours always sincerely

Royall Tyler
