Royall Tyler to Robert Woods Bliss, August 31, 1914

Château de la Berchère

Nuits – St. Georges

Côte d’Or

31 Aug. ‘14Monday.

My dear Robert

It’s a long time since we have heard from you or Mildred—do just send me a line saying you’re all right and where you are.

We are getting on fairly well here—very well were it not for this fearful business of the war. The people are behaving splendidly, and are not at all unkind to the Prussian prisoners, who, I am glad to say, come past in considerable numbers on this line, William is flourishing, and fearfully big. Elisina’s and my best love to you and Mildred—and tell her she must write.

Yours ever

Royall Tyler.
