Royall Tyler to Mildred Barnes Bliss, August 9, 1930

Grand Hôtel Hungaria
Budapest
9 Aug. 30Saturday.

I’ve been here since 13 June, and have had the stiffest 2 months I’ve ever experienced. I haven’t got what I came for—but I think I’ve come near it, and that I may get it yet.

At the moment, the thing to do is to go away, and that is what Dan GrantDaniel B. Grant, vice president of the Guarantee Trust Company of New York in London. (Guaranty Trust, with whom we’re partners in this) and I are doing tonight. But we’re leaving someone here.

I’m just sending you this line in a fearful rush so that you may not think I’m dead—near as I’ve come to it. I’ll write you a proper letter soon.

Blessings on you
R. T.
