Royall Tyler to Mildred Barnes Bliss, March 9, 1936 [1]

9.III.36

Dearest Mildred.

Bless you, angel one, for sending me those lines. It has been a bitter disappointment for me too, but I’m so happy about the better news of you that I can’t think of anything else. The Blisses had intended to travel from Prague to Budapest and then to Vienna. Because Mildred Bliss became ill with pneumonia in mid-February 1936, only Robert Woods Bliss was able to visit these cities.

I’m so glad you like the cameoBZ.1936.31. Robert found in Vienna. I consider it a very good one. And I like the iron birdThis iron bird has not been identified. It was in the collection on Prince Alfred Antonin Juritzky (1887–1961), an artist and art collector, and was eventually acquired by Hayford Peirce. See letter of May 26, 1936. of which a photo. is, I hear, being sent to you.

How I hope we may meet before you go back to USA.

Bless you, dearest Mildred
