Royall Tyler to Mildred Barnes Bliss, June 2, 1950

Paris

2.VI.50

Dearest Mildred—Here I am, delayed but safely arrived. My plane started five hours late from N.Y., and reached Geneva yesterday after the last plane for Paris had left. I therefore had to spend the night in Geneva, & came on this morning.

Elisina is well, & sends you much love, to you both.

A cable came yesterday from Molly GerardMary (“Molly”) Daly Gerard, wife of James Watson Gerard (1867–1951), an American lawyer and diplomat who was U.S. ambassador to Germany between 1913 and 1917. Mary Gerard was the aunt of Margit Sigray Bessenyey (1911–1984). saying that Harriot SigrayCountess Sigray (née Harriot Daly) (1880–1950), the wife of Count Antal “Anton” Sigray (1879–1947) of Hungary. died on Wed. May 31. I had dined with the Gerards the evening of May 30.

Bless you both for all your dear kindness to me on this visit.

A bientôt, and with fond love

Yrs
