Robert Woods Bliss to Royall Tyler, August 20, 1951

August 20, 1951

Dear Royall:

We only returned to Washington last night and your letter of the 18th was delivered this morning. It could not have been better-timed! Many thanks for your thoughtful intervention with the Meurice. The Hotel Meurice, a luxury-class hotel in the first arrondissement of Paris, between the Place de la Concorde and the Musée du Louvre, on the rue de la Rivoli. Founded in 1815, the hotel is considered to be one of France’s grand old hotels. We are delighted that they will have rooms for us on our arrival September 3rd from the S.S. “Queen Elizabeth.”RMS Queen Elizabeth, a passenger ocean liner built in 1936 for the Cunard Line and launched in 1938. We count on seeing you that night for dinner.

We hope your news of Elisina is good. Please give her our love. Mildred joins in affectionate messages to you in keen anticipation of our meeting two weeks from today!

Yours,

[unsigned]
