The Cabinet des Médailles is a department of the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris that contains collections of coins, engraved gems, and antiquities. Having its origins in the treasuries of the French kings, it is considered the oldest museum in France and is located in the former royal library that was built in 1724 at 58, rue Richelieu.
