Juan José de Lecanda (1853–1939)

Juan José de Lecanda y Salbidegoitia was born in Miravalles, Spain, on April 12, 1853. He was ordained in 1877; in 1882, he became prior of the Oratorio de San Felipe Neri at Alcalá de Henares, which he restored and enhanced with religious artworks. He was the life-long friend and confessor of Miguel de Unamuno. He died in Azpeitia, Spain, in 1939.
