Patrick William Stuart-Menteath (1845–1925)

Patrick William Stuart-Menteath was born on October 4, 1845, in Douglas, Isle of Man. He studied chemistry at the University of Edinburgh and then mining geology at the Royal School of Mines in London. He married Mrs. Patrick Stuart-Menteath in 1871; they lived in Ciboure, France, near Saint Jean-de-Luz in the Pyrenees. Pyrenean Geology (London: Dulau, 1903) is probably his best-known publication. He died at Ciboure on November 20, 1925.
