Paul P. Alfassa (1876–1969)

Paul Alfassa was a curator at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, and an art critic who published especially in La revue de Paris. His specialty was European, Persian, and Islamic ceramics. He served on the executive committee for the International Exhibition of Persian Art at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, January 7–February 28, 1931, and on the organizing committee of the Exposition internationale d’art byzantine at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, May 28–July 9, 1931. He also translated Edith Wharton’s novel A Son at the Front into French (Un fils au front [Paris: Pion-Nourrit et Cie, 1924]). In 1932, he authored the biography Raymond Koechlin: Notice lue à l’assemblée generale annuelle de la Societé des amis du Louvre, le 30 avril 1932, for the Donateurs du Louvre series (Paris, 1932).
