Dear Robert.

The chalcedony cameoBZ.1937.20. (III cent. A.D.) Kaleb. sent enclosed sketch of, appears to be a holy marvel in colour (Bill was immensely impressed by it). Whether Kaleb. will still have it when this reaches you, I know not, but I’d advise you, if you like it, to cable him that you’ll take it for frs. 25 000. You may remember similar ones in the Cab. des Médailles & the Louvre—but Bill says this is the finest ever. Hayford Peirce also has a fine one,This chalcedony cameo has not been identified. for which he paid, if I remember, not much less that the price asked for this—but his is broken in part.

No change in plans, London 30 May for a couple of weeks. In haste

Yrs

R. T.
