Hagia Sophia: Light Study, Narthex, and South Vestibule Mosaics
This film documents the conservation and restoration work carried out by the Byzantine Institute at Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey. It illustrates the following locations, scenes, or subjects: natural light passing through the apse, inner narthex, and then galleries; decorative mosaic details; inner narthex above the royal doors; mosaic of an emperor before Christ enthroned; south vestibule lunette of Justinian and Constantine before the Virgin enthroned and Christ child.
