This stylistic study of Olmec sculpture defines of four major stylistic groups. Susan Milbraith determines the chronological placement of each group through consideration of the archaeological context of several monuments, comparison with dated ceramic motifs, and analysis of stylistic relationships with sculptures from outside the heartland that have been dated by their archaeological context.
