Condition Cracked along the channel. The seal also appears to have been double-struck or overstruck; traces of lettering are visible on the left side of the reverse.

Bust of the Mother of God orans. Sigla on either side: μ̅θ̅: Μήτηρ Θεοῦ. Border of dots.

Reverse

Inscription of at least four lines. Border of dots.

[πάναγ]νε or [παρθέ]νε, στρα[τη]γὸν τ[ὸν] Χασάν[ην] σκέποις

Translation

πάναγνε or παρθένε, στρατηγὸν τὸν Χασάνην σκέποις.

All-holy One (or Virgin), may you protect the strategos Chasanes.

Commentary

The absence of the top line of the reverse makes it impossible to know if the first word in this metrical invocation is πάρθενε or πάναγνε.
