Commentary

The identity of Theophylaktos Eksubitos has been established by O. Kresten and W. Seibt, "Theophylaktos Exubitos (kein „italienischer Rebell des späten 10. Jahrhunderts” sondern μέγας διερμηνευτής unter Kaiser Manuel I. Komnenos) und seine Siegel," JÖB 52 (2002), 231-41.

The inscription is an interesting mix of Greek and Latin characters.
