Obverse

Worn bust of St. Stephen, features and gestures indistinct. To his right, an inscription is visible: ΣΤΕ: ὁ ἅγιος Στέφανος. Border of dots.

Translation

Ἰωάννῃ κουβουκλεισίῳ καὶ βασιλικῷ κληρικῷ.

John kouobukleisios and imperial cleric.

Commentary

The restoration of the reverse inscription is a best guess, based on the fact that the remains of the word "cleric" seem to be visible at the bottom; however there is too much space in between kouboukleisios and cleric for the accustomed abbreviation βασιλικῷ, so more of the word must be written out than expected.
