Κύριε βοήθει Ἰακόβῳ βασιλικῷ κανδιδάτο καὶ κουβικουλαρίῳ.

Lord, help Jacob imperial kandidatos and koubikoularios.

Commentary

In his unpublished catalogue of the Shaw collection, Laurent points out that while the last word of the reverse inscription could be read as βικαρίῳ (vikarios), that would be significantly more irregular than koubikoularios. The epigraphy lends credence to Laurent's reading, as  there seems to be room for a single letter before the Β, and by putting the Κ without the ου at the beginning of koubikoularios, the abbreviation style would match that of κανδιδάτῳ above.
