Commentary
Another possible resolution of the reverse of the this seal, mentioned in Zacos-Veglery, no. 2774, is that of χαρτουλαρίου (καὶ) κουβικουλαρίου. Both imperial "chartoularios and chartoularios" and "chartoularios and koubikoularios" have issues: regarding the former, one must find the σ in the loop of the ρ or the β, while regarding the latter, one must interpret the κ as also representing καὶ, as there is no clear S present (though the bottom of the seal is chipped, where it might have hooked on to the α). It is even possible that this Peter may have been "imperial chartoularios and koubikoularios, cf. BZS.1955.1.53.
