Commentary

The reverse is uncertain. Firstly, the reverse could alternatively be read as Μαυριανοῦ (Maurianos). Secondly, the Ν could additionally have a horizontal bar at the top, rendering it a Π, and therefore making the reverse read Πανόρμου; this would imply that Aitherios was some sort of official, perhaps the bishop of Panormos. If this is a double name seal, the relationship between the two names is uncertain.
