Commentary
The iconography of the Virgin Hagiosoritissa on seals is discussed by Seibt, "Die Darstellung der Theotokos," 48-50.
According to Laurent, this is likely not the same Nicholas Hagiotheodorites as the later metropolitan of Athens (BZS.1955.1.5007), but an earlier monastic ancestor of his with the same name.
