Χριστὲ βοήθει Χριστοφόρῳ πρωέδρῳ καὶ δικαιοφούλακι Θρᾴκης καὶ Μακεδονίας τῷ Λειχούδῃ.

Christ, help Christophoros Leichoudes, proedros and dikaiophylax of Thrace and Macedonia.

Commentary

On the office of dikaiophylax (here δικαιοφούλαξ: did upsilon still represent at this time a sound similar to the German ü?, which appeared ca. 1080 and had jurisdiction over Constantinople as well as over the provinces, see Oikonomides, Evolution, 135. Christophoros Leichoudes, not known from other sources, belonged to a distinguished family, which included Constantine Leichoudes, the paradynasteuon and later patriarch of Constantinople (1059-63).

Another seal of an anagrapheus of Thrace and Macedonia from the eleventh century is published by Lihačev, IZIGI, pl. VII, no. 20.
