Translation

Νικηφόρου σφράγισμα τοῦ Διογένους.

Seal of Nikephoros Diogenes.

Commentary

The owner of this seal was in all likelihood the second son of the emperor Romanos IV Diogenes by Eudokia Makrembolitissa. Nikephoros Diogenes was apprehended in a plot against Alexios Komnenos in 1094 for which he was made to suffer exile, blinding, and the confiscation of his property.
