Bust of St. John the Baptist holding a staff cross. On either side the inscription: |Ι̅|ΟΠ|Ρ: ὁ ἅγιος Ἰωάννης ὁ Πρόδρομος. Border of dots.

Reverse

Inscription of five line. Border of dots.

Κύριε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Σεργίο ἐπισκόπ Σάμου (?)

Translation

Κύριε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Σεργίο ἐπισκόπῳ Σάμου (?).

Lord, help your servant Sergios bishop of Samos (?).

Commentary

Alternatively the see could be read Λάμου (suffragan bishopric of Seleukeia in Pamphylia), but we think that the missing letter at the beginning of line 5 has a rounded left side and could be a Σ rather than a Λ. But this is not certain.
