Translation

Κύριε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Γργορίῳ Καισαρείας.

Lord, help your servant Gregory of Caesarea.

 

Commentary

There is no compelling reason to attribute this seal to the metropolis of Cappadocia, as there is another possibility, namely, the bishopric of Caesarea in Bithynia (Notitiae, no. 2,1.200; no. 4,1.189; no. 9,1.126; no. 10,1.143).
