Annunciation scene. Between the angel Gabriel and the Virgin, and on the right side, columns of epigraphy: χαι|ρεμ|ο : Χαιρετισμός. Border of dots.

Reverse

Inscription of five lines beginning with a cross. Border of dots.

Translation

Εὐφροσύνην Δούκαιναν, ἁγνή, με σκέποις.

Holy One, may you protect Euphrosyne Doukaina.

Commentary

The owner of this seal was the wife of the future emperor Alexios Angelos Komnenos (1195-1203); her father was Andronikos Doukas Kamateros, hence the use of the Doukas name on the seal.
