Obverse

Bust of St. Nicholas blessing with his right hand. Inscription in two columns: |ν|ι-κ|ο|λ, : Ὁ ἅ(γιος) Νικόλ(αος). Circular inscription along a border of dots:

...Rοηθιτσ....

[Κύριε] βοήθι τῷ σ[ῷ δούλῳ].

Reverse

Inscription of five lines, decoration above, and, faintly visible, below. Border of dots.

Νικο[λ]άῳ χαρ[τ]ουλ(αρίῳ) (καὶ) χρ(υσο)τ(ελεῖ) [τ]ον Θρᾳκισ(ίων).

Translation

Κύριε βοήθι τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Νικολάῳ χαρτουλαρίῳ καὶ χρυσοτελεῖ τον Θρᾳκισίων.

Lord, help your servant Nicholas, chartoularios and chrysoteles of the Thrakesioi.

Commentary

The rarely found office of the chrysoteles appears in the sources around the year 1000 and refers to a tax collector. See BZS 1955.1.2235.
