Obverse

Standing figure of St. Theodore holding a spear with his right hand and a shield with his left. On either side, epigraphy: ο||γι|οσθε|ο|ροσ : ὁ ἅγιος Θεόδωρος. Border of dots.

Reverse

Inscription of six lines, a cross above. Border of dots.

σκέποις σ[ε]βαστὸν [φ]ερώνυμον, μά[ρ]τ(υς), Κομνηνοδ[ού]καν π(ατ)ρόθε[ν] καὶ μ(ητ)ρόθε[ν]

Translation

σκέποις σεβαστὸν φερώνυμον, μάρτυς, Κομνηνοδούκαν πατρόθεν καὶ μητρόθεν.

Martyr, may you protect the sebastos who bears your name, a Komnenos and Doukas on his father's and mother's side.

Commentary

Wassiliou-Seibt suggests that the owner of this seal is to be identified as the son of the sebastokrator John Doukas, born about the year 1180-1185 and later attested as ruler of Epiros and Thessalonike.
