Translation

Θεοδοσίου τρακτευτοῦ Κρήτης.

(Seal of) Thedosios trakteutes (?) of Crete.

Commentary

There cannot be any doubt about the letters of the inscription, but the abbreviation of line 3 is very radical; because of the early date of the seal, we follow Tsougarakis and accept the reading trakteutes (= tractator = tax collector). Cf. another trakteutes of the same period, DO Seals 2, no. 43.5.
