He holds a BFA in illustration from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Mark Shannon received an MA in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University in New York, before beginning a career in arts journalism and technical writing. He currently works as a freelance English teacher, editor, and writer in Barcelona. The brothers have collaborated on two picture books to date: Gawain and the Green Knight and The Acrobat and the Angel.

This event will take place at the DC Public Library Georgetown Branch, located at 3260 R Street NW, Washington, DC 20007. Following the event, we encourage attendees to visit the Juggling the Middle Ages exhibition at Dumbarton Oaks, located just a block away at 1703 32nd Street NW.

Juggling the Middle Ages

Featuring more than 100 objects, Juggling the Middle Ages explores the influence of the medieval world by focusing on a single story with a long-lasting impact—Le Jongleur de Notre Dame or Our Lady’s Tumbler. The exhibit follows the tale from its rediscovery by scholars in the 1870s to its modern interpretations in children’s books, offering viewers a look at a vast range of objects, including stained glass windows, illuminated manuscripts, household objects, and vintage theater posters.
