Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, with evening and weekend hours as needed

Summary

The Network Engineer has a wide range of responsibilities and oversees the network infrastructure Wired/Wireless, including routers, switches, firewalls, Cisco phone system, VPN (Zscaler), cloud-base servers and applications, security updates and patches.

The Network Engineer is responsible for operation and maintenance of Zscaler infrastructure. This position designs, deploys, configures, tunes, and troubleshoots network systems hardware and software; ensures compliance with industry and standards for system security; performs tier 3 support primarily for Zscaler solutions, Cisco call union system, Merika Wireless solution and Safe Connect Wired Systems; serves as point of technical escalation for the Tier 2 support monitor; and identifies and escalates issues appropriately.

This position maintains and administers Cisco-based Ethernet and (Cisco Meraki) Wireless cloud-based networks (Safe Connect System) and voice network (Unified Communication System); participates in the rotating “on call” schedule with other members of the team for providing support to the business and partners.

Duties and Responsibilities

Administration of the following systems as it relates to major improvements, enhancements, and architectural design and implementation:

  • Installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
  • Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation
  • Configuring and supporting firewalls; routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
  • Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Zscaler Security Solution-Zero Trust
  • Arranging scheduled upgrades
  • Investigating faults in the network
  • Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
  • Server Virtualization (VMware)
  • LAN and WAN
  • Storage Management (NetApp) Endpoint, Server and Network Security Systems
  • Document and maintain system technical standards, licensing and support contracts
  • Work with team members and vendors to research and recommend innovative solutions to meet business requirements on both project and operational bases.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

At least five years of experience in setting up, configuring, tuning, and troubleshooting networking systems. Must have experience with cloud concepts (both public and private cloud), Cloud server, storage and networking systems, AWS or similar.

At least three years of experience in installing and configuring Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) and Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA). Working knowledge of networking, how permissions (allow/deny) rules work in a top-down order.

Additional Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or five years of related experience or equivalent.

Comprehensive experience in systems administration with VMware, Windows servers, as well as OS X and Windows desktops. Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and security.

Experience with video encoding and streaming media is a plus.

Ability to learn new technologies quickly and maintain a reliable and methodical approach to troubleshooting.

Highly positive customer service orientation as well as performance record of reliability and promptness are preferred.

Ability to work well with others and a willingness to provide emergency support off-hours when necessary.
