Christopher Blakley

Plant Humanities Faculty Resident

Christopher M. Blakley is a historian of the early modern Atlantic world with research interests in slavery, the African Diaspora, medicine and pharmacy, human-plant interactions, and human-animal relationships. He is a non-tenure track instructor at Occidental College, and was previously a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles, and a predoctoral fellow at the McNeil Center for Early American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed my PhD in history at Rutgers University and recently published an article on an enslaved doctor in eighteenth-century Virginia in Medical History.
