Dominique Manuel

Folger Shakespeare Library, Dumbarton Oaks Humanities Fellow

Dominique Manuel recently graduated from Amherst College, receiving a BA in history with a concentration in social justice, rights, and inequality. She is interested in exploring socially responsible pedagogical practices in museums and institutions, especially institutions concerning history, cultural heritage, and art.

Manuel will split her time at Dumbarton Oaks between two projects. In the fall, she will focus on the Byzantine Oral History Project: working on recently recorded interviews, editing the transcripts, and processing them for publishing on the Dumbarton Oaks website, as well as interviewing other Byzantinists. In the spring, she will catalog and provide online access to images of Dumbarton Oaks’ fieldwork preserving Byzantine church frescoes in Cyprus in the 1960s and 1970s, as well as upload those images to Wikimedia Commons and create and enhance Wikipedia articles on Cypriot churches.
