Plant Humanities Summer Program

Price’s period of study is early modern Italy, but her primary research interest is the nexus between history education and video games. She pursued this interest in an undergraduate senior thesis, “The Pazzi Conspiracy: An Educational Video Game,” which she designed to teach university students about conspiracy and Medici patronage during the Italian Renaissance. She also designed a simulation of a Russian literary salon to accompany the Reacting to the Past classroom game, Literary Journals, Dostoevsky and Tolstoy in St. Petersburg, 1877, in the age of online learning. She aims to use video games and interactive media to make learning history more accessible and engaging.

Haley Price received a BA in history and honors humanities from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2021. She is currently taking a gap year before applying to PhD programs where she hopes to pursue study in early modern European history and digital history. Price has been a digital intern for her history department, and for the digital timeline tool ClioVis. Other positions include her jobs as a research and teacher’s assistant for a Reacting to the Past game creator, and a transcription apprenticeship. Her work has been published in Reacting to the Past gamebooks and the University of Texas’s Not Even Past.
