Byzantine Coins and Seals Summer Program

Nikolas Hächler is a postdoctoral researcher, supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), and is currently working on his habilitation thesis on the reign of the emperor Heraclius as a visiting researcher at the Institute for Byzantine Studies at the LMU Munich. He holds a PhD in ancient history from the University of Zurich and he is interested in the history of governance and administrative structures, aspects of political thought, and social networks based on the study of literary and documentary sources of the Roman and Byzantine Empires, especially with regard to epigraphy, numismatics, and sigillography.
